The updated regulation on mobile device’s IMEI code registration came into effect in Kyrgyzstan in late August. This means that, starting September 2, 2024, all phones which were not registered by importers bringing them to Kyrgyzstan will be blocked within 3 hours following such phones’ first connection to any mobile telecom provider’s network in Kyrgyzstan. The provisional simplified procedures of phone registration were in affect before September 2, 2024 allowing vendors or buyers themselves to register phones with SIS for 600 KGS per registration, without providing supporting documents. The measure was applied so that phones previously imported and stored at vendors’ warehouses could be registered.
Starting from September 2, mobile phones can only be registered by individual users through the standard registration procedure on www.imei.kg upon registration fee payment and provision of documents certifying the device import to Kyrgyzstan (checking if the border was crossed not more than 30 days before registering or reviewing documents certifying that the phone was purchased on an online marketplace). If you have bought a non-registered phone in Kyrgyzstan after September 2 or you do not have documents certifying that you brought the phone from abroad for personal use, you MAY NOT register such phone under the prescribed procedures, therefore, we recommend to return such phone to the vendor.
You can do it in the My O! app, on www.imei.kg, or by dialing *5656#. Please note that O!Stores only offer registered phones. All mobile phones available with O!Stores were registered officially when imported to the Kyrgyz Republic which included submission of declaration on such devices and payment of all required taxes and registration fees. Buy devices from trusted vendors only to avoid issues activating new smartphones! The O!Store chain partners directly with smartphone brand agents and offers product warranty and good buying terms including mobile data given as a gift for buying online, interest-free installment plans, presents, and promos. Visit the SIS website www.imei.kg for detailed information on phone registration.
