From interns to architects of the digital world: Meet the people building the O! ecosystem

The stories of people who are making our lives better right now.

The cutting-edge O! ecosystem is being built by Kyrgyzstanis who live and work among us. Behind every convenient icon on your smartphone is the daily work of our talented compatriots. O! is more than connectivity, fintech, and smart services. It is also the success stories of people who are making our lives better right now.

In our previous article, we shared some of the romantic and daring stories from the lives of O! employees. Today, we’ll take a deeper look: we’ll explore the journey from mechanical engineer to BI developer, the ins and outs of B2B consulting, and how to turn data into a “beautiful white steamship”.

Cholpon OrozaIieva, Business Analyst and BI Developer (4 years at O!)

Cholpon’s story is a vivid example of how O! values genuine passion for one’s work and a willingness to keep learning. She joined the company for a one-month internship during her fourth year at the Polytech – and ended up staying for the long term.

“My actual degree is in mechanical engineering, so I had to learn everything from scratch! Over four years, I went from data engineer to business analyst and BI developer. Put simply, BI (Business Intelligence) is the ability to turn huge amounts of data into an easy-to-understand visual map for the business.

My job isn’t just about writing code – it’s about deeply understanding my colleagues’ needs. I help formulate a task in a way that allows us to find the most efficient and elegant solution.

What I enjoy most today is that the circle has come full circle. Alongside my main responsibilities, I oversee the internship program – the very program where I once started my own journey at the company. Seeing a newcomer grow is priceless.”

Kamilla Sanjarova, Lead Corporate Customer Specialist and Onboarding Specialist (4 years at O!)

After joining O! in 2022, Kamilla progressed from a specialist to a lead expert and mentor.

“My work has long gone beyond traditional sales – I’ve become a digital advisor for businesses. We help entrepreneurs grow through the latest technologies,” Kamilla says.

Today, O!’s B2B segment offers comprehensive solutions: from connectivity and VPN networks to fintech services such as Smart POS and O!Kassa, as well as M2M infrastructure for monitoring vehicles, ATMs, and smart devices.

“Besides working with clients, I help newcomers take their first steps in B2B. For me, O! is all about energy and the feeling that you’re right at the heart of the country’s digital transformation.”

Dmitry Bronnikov, Head of Statistics and Machine Analysis Department (12 years at O!)

Dmitry is responsible for ensuring that the company doesn’t make decisions “in the dark.” The data specialist training system he created also helps develop experts of international caliber.

“Joining O! 12 years ago was a conscious decision. It’s important to me to work somewhere where human values and transparency come before short-term gains. At O!, all of this is part of the company’s DNA. An unexpected coincidence helped me get into the company. Back then, IT developers weren’t being recruited as actively as they are today, but there were vacancies related to radio communications. That’s when I remembered an entry in my military ID: ‘commander of a medium-power radio station platoon.’ It worked – I was invited for an interview!” Dmitry recalls.

Over the years, he has witnessed a major transformation of the company’s analytics infrastructure:

“At first, the data-processing systems looked like a half-sunken boat on fire with two rowers. It took years to turn it into a beautiful white steamship.”

This transformation was made possible by optimizing processes and creating a training system for specialists in Data Engineering, Data Science, and BI Analytics. The company has built a unique regional talent base that enables it to train experts of international caliber – something that can easily be seen from the global geography of its graduates’ careers.

“After a two-month introductory course, newcomers have skills comparable to those of lead specialists at banks – some of whom occasionally come to us for interviews. At the same time, interns receive a stipend. From there, they can grow from Junior to Senior level. No one else in the country does it this way, and that’s our key advantage.”

Announcements about DataCamp recruitment are published on the o.kg website and on Instagram @o_mobile_operator.
